Connection Types
There are 6 main connection types outlined in the ISO 12151
| ISO 12151-1 | Connections for hydraulic fluid power and general use. Hose couplings with ISO 8434-3 O-ring face-seal ends |
| ISO 12151-2 | Connections for hydraulic fluid power and general use. Hose couplings with ISO 8434-1 and ISO 8434-4 24° cone connector ends with O-rings |
| ISO 12151-3 | Connections for hydraulic fluid power and general use. Hose couplings with ISO 6162 flange ends |
| ISO 12151-4 | Connections for hydraulic fluid power and general use. Hose couplings with ISO 6149 metric stud ends |
| ISO 12151-5 | Connections for hydraulic fluid power and general use. Hose couplings with ISO 8434-2 37° flared ends |
| ISO 12151-6 | Connections for hydraulic fluid power and general use. Hose couplings with ISO 8434-6 60° cone ends |

ISO 12151-1 Hose couplings with ISO 8434-3 O-ring face-seal ends, common name ORFS CFS description PR (male) and OR (female)
This was originally a joint development between Caterpillar, John Deere, Parker and Aeroquip
- There is a short and a long version for the straights
- 90° elbows are available in short (S), medium (M) and long (L) drop
- Mainly female, but as well male couplings available
ISO 12151-2 Hose couplings with ISO 8434-1 and ISO 8434-4 24° cone connector ends with O-rings, Metric light and heavy series, common name DKOL, DKOS CFS description CL/CH male, DL/DH female
This metric connection is very common in Germany and many other European countries, former DIN 20078
- Light and heavy series thread connections sometimes confusing
- Male (straight) and female versions (str., 45°, 90°)
ISO 12151-3 Hose couplings with ISO 6162 flange ends, common name Code 61 (3000 psi) and Code 62 (6000 psi) flanges CFS description FH and FL
This is the most common high-pressure connection, especially in sizes ¾” and above
- Commonly called SAE Flanges light and heavy
- Not specified in -10
- Straights, 22,5°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 67,5°, 90°elbows
- O-ring grove for soft-seal to flat port surface
- Mounted with split- or captive flanges
ISO 12151-5 Hose couplings with ISO 8434-2 37° flared ends, SAE J 517, common name JIC 37° CFS description male/female IC/JC
This is a very common connector in USA, as well as e.g. in Italy, precursor of ORFS as it has limited pressure-rates
- Metallic sealing, UNF thread
- Can be confused with SAE 45° or JIS 30°connector
- Straights, 45°, 90°elbows
- Straights specified with back-hexagon nut, but also produced without a back-hexagon nut
- 90° elbows available in short, medium and long drop version
ISO 12151-6 Hose couplings with ISO 8434-6 60° cone ends, BSP, British standard pipe, BS 5200, common name AGR/DKR CFS description male/female AP/BP, with O-ring BO
This is a very common connector in UK
- Metallic or soft-sealing (O-ring), Whitworth thread
- Only soft-seal version is specified in ISO 12151-6
- Straights, 45°, 90°elbows
JIS 30° Japanese standard JIS B8363
This is a very common connector in Japan, available in 3 different versions
- BSP thread (Toyota type)
- Metric thread (Komatsu type)
- Inverted sealing seat (Nissan type)
- Metallic sealing
- Can be confused with JIC 37°
Banjo DIN 762 and DIN 763 for metric or BSP bolts German short description RGN (metric) and RGR (inch) CFS description DB (metric) and BB (inch)
Origin Germany
- Metallic sealing with copper washer
- Limited pressure-range
- Used in tight space applications
Customized connectors for Kobelco in the style of Metric 24°ISO 12151-2
- Metallic sealing
| Metric Thread | Tube O.D. (mm) | Thread O.D. on male (mm) | Thread I.D. in female (mm) |
| M30x1,5 | 22 | 30,00 | 28,50 |
| M36x1,5 | 28 | 36,00 | 34,50 |
| M45x1,5 | 35 | 45,00 | 43,50 |
NPTF SAE J 516, male port connection
CFS description NP
- Origin USA, used by Caterpillar, John Deere etc.
- Metallic sealing along the thread flanks
- Cone thread
- Do not confuse with cone BSP male port connector

Smart code description
- There is a 9 digit smart-code for CFS Anchor couplings
- Due to the smart-code it is very easy to identify and determine the correct coupling
